I recently celebrated my birthday. My youngest sister, Dani and I had some wedding planning to do. On a last minute decision, we decided to go to one of my favorite restaurants, The The French Laundry
in Fenton, Michigan.
We went with my favorite entree there, a tuna fish sandwich on grilled Pullman bread with cheddar cheese. It was delicious, as usual.
We also split an appetizer of a nice hearty bread, cubed and ready to be dipped in two varieties of flavored olive oil. The favorite was definitely the orange olive oil.
While we waited to be seated at the restaurant we visited a great shop just down the street from the French Laundry, The Iron Grate. They don't have a website, but you can find them on Face book along with many pictures. It's a great shop with vintage and new home decor, fashions and children's items.
We also stopped by The Heavenly Scent Herb Farm, southeast of the French Laundry, but not too far.
They have a selection of beautiful, unusual and hard to find plants. They have lots of garden art, pots and furniture.
You'll love their selection of miniature plants and furniture for miniature and Fairy gardens. Also lots of beautiful home decor and seasonal decorations.
A favorite this visit were these little cottages. They were made of a lightweight concrete, possibly hypertufa. They're made to withstand the outdoors.
Aren't they lovely!
I love to visit this place. They have beautiful and unusual plants, home decor, gifts galore, beautiful grounds and garden decor.
We did get some wedding planning done.
