WEDDING CAKE COOKIES

I made wedding cake cookies for the shower that were made with a delicious buttery short dough recipe (following below).
I also use this same recipe to make tart shells, cookie pizzas, shortbread, Linzer cookies and more.  It is very versatile and a great recipe to hang on to.

I placed them on parchment paper to bake.  You
can also use a Silpat type pad or place directly onto
a cookie sheet.

Each of the cookies were iced and decorated in
a different pattern.

After the cookie icing dried I placed them in
cellophane bags which were tied with
an aqua ribbon.

They were part of the gift bags at the shower.

1 pound of sugar
1 pound of softened butter
4 large eggs/7oz
1 tsp vanilla
2 pounds flour
1 tsp of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder

Cream together sugar and butter.
Add eggs and vanilla, beat till creamy.
Sift last three ingredients and add to butter, eggs, vanilla and sugar a little bit at a time until completely incorporated.
Divide into four parts, wrap and refrigerate for at least two hours.
Roll and use cookie cutters as you would for any sugar cookie recipe.
Bake at 350F for 15 minutes or until a light golden color.
Let them cool and decorate with your favorite icing.
If you want to place them in bags you'll need to use an icing that will harden.  Royal icing is an option.
Enjoy!
